Hoffman, Bernice R. (Marriage - 6 Nov. 1943)
At 1:30 o’clock Saturday, Nov. 6, Miss Bernice R. Hoffman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul G. Hoffman, Sr., of Athens, exchanged wedding vows with Eldon Denzin, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Denzin, Abbotsford, in a wedding ceremony performed in the Milan Bethlehem Lutheran church. The Rev. E. E. Malueg officiated.
Attendants were Miss Elaine Denzin, sister of the groom, as maid of honor; Miss Evelyn Denzin, Mrs. Vern Witlinger and Miss Ellen Hoffman, sisters of the bride and groom, as bridesmaids; Alvin Hoffman, brother of the bride, best man; Evert Denzin, cousin of the groom, Donald Stoughton and Vern Wittinger, ushers. Lorna Hoffman, a niece of the bride, was flower girl.
The bride wore a gown of white slipper satin fashioned with a fitted bodice buttoned down the back, high neckline, long lace sleeves and a full skirt ending in a train. Lace appliqués trimmed the shoulders of the dress and edged her finger-tip veil, held in place with a headdress of seed pearls and rhinestones. Her only jewelry was a gold locket, a gift of the bridegroom, and she carried a bouquet of red roses and white flowers.
The maid of honor was attired in a blue taffeta frock and matching headdress while all the bridesmaids wore pink taffeta frocks and headdresses. All had corsages of red and white flowers. Lorna wore a white satin dress trimmed with blue ribbons and carried a basket of chrysanthemums. For jewelry she wore pearls, a gift of the bride. The mothers of the bride and groom wore corsages of red, white and lavender flowers.
A reception followed at the home of the bride’s parents, decorated with pink, white and blue streamers and a white wedding bell and a wedding dance was held at the Trianon Gardens.
Mr. and Mrs. Denzin are making their home with the groom’s parents on the farm in the town of Holton.
